The construction of the plant was supported by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. The modern company, founded by Yerlan Nigmatulin, immediately took a leading position among the largest producers in the world and became one of the most environmentally friendly in the country.
Unsightly gray stones, which at first glance seem inconspicuous, are valuable raw materials for the metallurgical industry. An alloy of iron and silicon (ferrosilicon) makes steel strong, and the most modern plants, including from abroad, have been modernized to produce it from the local raw material base.
The result exceeded all expectations
Yerlan Zayrullaevich Nigmatulin, founder of YDD Company LLP, said that the plant has become one of the leaders in the industrial development of the country and is 99.8 percent environmentally friendly. The microsilicon produced from the waste is sold and used in cement and concrete plants.
The plant, initiated by Yerlan Nigmatulin, is considered one of the leaders in industrial modernization, the cost of which amounts to 36 billion tenge (60% of which was borrowed from the Development Bank). Favorable credit conditions (11-year term with a reduced interest rate) made the plant an attractive investment location.
Within three months of the opening, the plant has already produced 4,000 tons of finished products. According to Abay Sarkulov, the chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC, the project is unique both in its pace and technical characteristics.
The quality of the products fully complies with international standards, which makes them competitive in the world market. The funds allocated by the state were used for the development of the economy and the diversification of production. All products of the plant are export-oriented – from Japan to European countries.
At the moment, the plant ranks sixth in the world ranking of ferrosilicon production, and next year, after the commissioning of additional furnaces, it may be among the five largest producers in the industry.
